About The Position

The Security Guard position assists in a supervisor capacity, providing security and protection for students, staff, and property at Queen Creek High School. This role involves patrolling buildings and grounds, learning student names for campus control, confronting unauthorized individuals, reporting system malfunctions, managing vehicle traffic and parking, assisting staff with student conduct, and serving as a witness when required. The position is for 261 days/12 months, with a 40-hour work week, Monday-Friday, from 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Compensation is per the QCUSD salary schedule, and benefits are per QCUSD District policy. The role reports to the Principal.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Caring human relations skills; good written communications skills.
  • Experience in working the public and youth.
  • Neat appearance and good physical condition - must be on feet for long periods of time.
  • Must pass a background clearance.
  • Must obtain an Arizona IVP Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card.

Nice To Haves

  • College classes preferred in criminal justice or related field.
  • Knowledge of Arizona laws pertaining to schools and youth preferred.
  • Experience in law enforcement preferred.
  • Knowledge of drugs and alcohol and their detection and effects.

Responsibilities

  • Patrols district buildings and grounds to prevent substance abuse, fighting, theft, vandalism and illegal entry and exit.
  • Learns names of individual students in order to assist with campus control.
  • Confronts unauthorized persons for questioning; routes or detains them; calls police for assistance according to emergency action plan.
  • Reports any unusual conditions or malfunctioning of heating, plumbing or electrical systems.
  • Patrols school grounds to detect and require correction of unauthorized and improperly parked vehicles.
  • Makes written reports of security violations.
  • Directs and controls vehicle traffic on district property when necessary.
  • Assists staff with student conduct.
  • Serves as witness in a disciplinary due process hearing or court case as required.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned to advance district priorities.
