About The Position

Provides general security services to the campus and assists campus police
officers with routine patrols and other security measures.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Valid Tennessee driver’s license
• Ability to work in varying conditions, including indoors and outdoors in all types of weather.
• Good customer service skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with a diverse faculty, staff and student population.
• Demonstrated self-restraint in challenging and/or difficult situations.
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
• Ability to occasionally travel throughout the service area as needed.
• Shifts and campus assignments vary and are based on current need

Nice To Haves

• Prior security or law enforcement experience

Responsibilities

• Patrols campus by foot, bicycle or motor vehicle.
• Identifies and reports suspected crimes, accidents or activities of a questionable/suspicious nature.
• Reports accidents involving persons or property, reporting probable cause of accidents, pursuing appropriate course of action and informing proper authorities as required.
• Provides security for special events.
• Writes citations for parking violations.
• Provides direction and/or instruction to faculty, staff and students in unusual or emergency situations.
• Participates in campus training for emergencies and for law enforcement officers.
• Monitors classrooms, offices and buildings for safety and/or maintenance concerns.
• Maintains and utilizes security equipment.
• Maintains department records and prepares reports.
• May testify in court or during legal proceedings as needed.
