Requirements

  • Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective security operations for the protection of people, data, and property.
  • Ability to monitor, access and respond appropriately to resident behaviors while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Ability to work in a cross-culture environment, understands the social and cultural context of the patients at the didgwalic Wellness Center.
  • Understands the role of trauma, historical, community, family, and personal experience in wellness and recovery.
  • Skilled in verbal de-escalation techniques and conflict resolution strategies.
  • Understands and adheres to state (RCW, WAC) and federal confidentiality regulations (42 CFR part 2).
  • Effective communication, written, verbal, and interpersonal.
  • Proficient in using basic computer systems, security software, and Microsoft office products.
  • Strong observation skills with the ability to identify safety hazards, policy violations, or concerning behaviors.
  • Ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • One year of security or related experience required.
  • CPR certification required

Nice To Haves

  • Security guard training certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Patrols and monitors grounds, parking areas, and common spaces to ensure safety and compliance with Housing policies.
  • Monitors surveillance cameras to effectively address potential security concerns such as loitering and policy violations.
  • Responds to all alarms, disturbances, and emergencies, contacting management, fire, or medical services when necessary and contacts law enforcement, fire department or an ambulance in case of an emergency.
  • Controls and monitors resident, staff and visitor access, ensuring proper authorization before granting entry onto premises.
  • Provides de-escalation support for residents experiencing crisis situations using non-violent intervention techniques.
  • Document incidents, rule violations, and safety concerns in accurate, detailed reports.
  • Assist residents and staff during emergencies. Including fire drills, medical incidents, or evacuations.
  • Escorts unauthorized individuals, trespassers, and discharged residents off the property when required.
  • Works collaboratively with case managers and housing staff to ensure resident compliance with program expectations and safety guidelines.
  • Provides information, guidance, and conflict resolution when necessary to maintain a peaceful living environment.
  • Supports housing operations by reporting maintenance concerns, environmental hazards, or unsafe conditions.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Security Manager.
