About The Position

The Georgia State University Police Department is seeking Security Guards to join their team in maintaining excellence and providing safety services through professional community-oriented policing. The department provides law enforcement, security, and safety services to the university community and surrounding areas across six Atlanta metro campuses, ensuring a safe environment for students, faculty, staff, and neighbors. Georgia State boasts one of the largest university police forces in the state with 160 officers and is accredited by CALEA, IACLEA, and the State of Georgia Law Enforcement Certification Program.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED
No felony convictions.
Must be able to pass a thorough background investigation.
Must take a pre-employment drug screen.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Effective time management and organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of standard security practices and procedures.
Flexible schedule.

Responsibilities

Performs security duties for the protection of GSU property, personal property and personal protection.
Operates on a 24/7 basis.
Works during morning, day and evening hours; weekends and holidays.
Patrols assigned areas.
Performs foot patrols.
Walks for long periods of time as well as up and down stairs.
May require sitting or standing at a stationary assignment for long periods of time.
