Join Allied Universal as an Unarmed Patrol Officer at a shelter location, where you will monitor assigned areas, conduct routine patrols, and remain visible to help reduce security-related incidents. Requirements

  • A New York State Security Guard License is required.
  • At least 1 year of security-related experience is required.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

  • CPR certification is preferred.
  • Being comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to residents, visitors, and staff by carrying out security-related procedures, location-specific policies, and/or appropriate emergency response activities in a shelter environment.
  • Respond to incidents, disturbances, and critical situations in a calm, professional, and problem-solving manner, documenting observations and reporting concerns to site contacts and/or Allied Universal leadership.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols throughout the location, including common areas, entrances, exits, and perimeter areas, to help to deter unauthorized activity and/or unusual behavior.
  • Monitor access points and visitor activity, verify permitted entry in accordance with site procedures, and assist with maintaining an orderly environment through clear communication and presence.
  • Support shelter operations by observing resident and guest interactions, reporting maintenance and/or behavioral concerns, and following post orders related to after-hours activity, restricted areas, and emergency situations.
