About The Position

The Security Guard Coordinator helps provide a safe and secure environment for parishioners, employees, students, and visitors to the campus. This position supports parish safety and security operations by coordinating schedules, monitoring security procedures, and serving as a liaison with parish administration, maintenance staff, and off-duty law enforcement personnel. Requirements

  • Requires an appreciation and respect for the Catholic Church and its teachings. Church employees must conduct themselves in a manner that is consistent with and supportive of the mission and purpose of the Church. Their public behavior must not violate the faith, morals or laws of the Church or the policies of the diocese.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of safety, security, or related experience required.
  • Knowledge of security procedures and emergency preparedness practices.
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards and general safety protocols.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to coordinate schedules and conduct basic training.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and respond calmly during emergencies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office or similar software.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in law enforcement or related field preferred.
  • Training or certification in safety and security preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures that building doors are locked and alarms are set each evening.
  • Ensures that lights and air conditioning units are turned off at the end of the day, as appropriate.
  • Maintains a visible presence when staff, parishioners, and guests enter or exit the campus during evening activities.
  • Creates schedules to ensure appropriate security coverage during designated times.
  • Serves as liaison between off-duty law enforcement personnel and the parish.
  • Maintains familiarity with campus buildings and grounds to identify unusual or suspicious activity.
  • Becomes familiar with diocesan safety and security policies, including emergency response procedures, to support campus compliance.
  • Maintains familiarity with campus security systems and features.
  • Monitors security cameras, as scheduled.
  • Ensures vendors and guests remain within designated areas.
  • Assists with developing daily safety and facility checklists.
  • Works closely with the Maintenance Manager to ensure emergency lighting and exits remain operational and unobstructed.
  • Assists with ensuring required fire and safety inspections are completed and identified issues are addressed.
  • Ensures emergency maps and related safety materials are properly posted throughout the facility.
  • Interfaces with parish and school staff regarding safety and security concerns and ensures timely follow-up.
  • Attends meetings, trainings, and conferences as required to remain current on safety and security practices.
