Commissionaires Nova Scotia (CNS) is seeking a Security Guard - Cashier for the Cobequid Pass Toll Plaza. Requirements

Be aged 19 or older
Have eligibility to work in Canada
Not have a criminal record for which a pardon has not been granted
Be able to provide fingerprints and complete a criminal record check
Be eligible to apply for, and attain, a Government of Canada personnel security screening
Have a valid Nova Scotia Driver's License, or reliable transportation to/from the worksites
Superior attention to detail with very good verbal communication skills
Excellent customer service skills
Computer literacy, and/or an aptitude to learn, is an asset
Demonstrate a strong work ethic and “Can Do” attitude
React calmly, quickly, and appropriately in any crisis
Concentrate and remain alert for up to 12 hours
Communicate observed characteristics/behavior (good memory)
Demonstrate problem-solving and sound judgement
Climb multiple flights of stairs with ease
Display good dexterity and balance
Rely on all senses in assessing changes to the work environment
Proficiency in basic math for toll fee calculations
Comfortable managing cash transactions
Strong attention to detail for accurate cash handling, transaction processing and record keeping
Demonstrated commitment to safety and reliable attendance

Nice To Haves

Prior experience with cash handling and operating cash registers
Familiarity with national roadways and local points of interest

Protecting people, property, and information

Classification of vehicles
Reporting to shift and site supervisor
Monitoring and responding to alarms and security systems
Ensuring the health and safety in the workplace
Adhering to CNS’s Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality policies, systems, and practices (and those of the Clients we serve)
Respecting CNS policies, Site Work Instructions, and the Site Supervisor’s direction
Other functions may include reception/administration, reporting, emergency management and access control
