About The Position

The Security Officer & Certified First Responder is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for guests, employees, and property while providing immediate emergency medical response when required. This role combines traditional security duties with advanced first responder responsibilities, ensuring rapid, professional action during medical emergencies, safety incidents, and crisis situations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Must have National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT) and Arizona Department of Health Services (AZDHS) EMCT certification obtained within 180-days of hire and maintain certification.
  • Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification or obtain within 30 days of hire and maintain certification.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules.
  • Must have a valid ID.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills.
  • Must have strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to get along with co-workers and work as a team.
  • Present a well-groomed appearance.
  • Must be honest and trustworthy.
  • Must have good attendance record.
  • Must be computer literate including knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel
  • Must have a clean motor vehicle record (MVR) which will be verified prior to employment.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug test to include illegal drugs which are restricted by state or Federal law as well as unlawful medication.
  • Must pass background check and drug screening

  • Must be able to maneuver to all areas of the casino.
  • Must be able to run.

  • Must be able to push heavy loads, bend, reach, kneel, twist, grip, stoop and crouch.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Must be alert and observant of your surroundings.
  • Must be alert to radio traffic in noisy casino environment.
  • Must have the ability to be firm, yet polite, when necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Patrol assigned areas to deter, detect, and respond to security threats, safety hazards, and policy violations.
  • Monitor surveillance systems, alarms, and access control systems.
  • Respond promptly to incidents including disturbances, theft, trespassing, and emergencies.
  • Enforce company policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
  • Prepare detailed incidents and investigation reports.
  • Assist with crowd control and emergency evacuations.
  • Handles evidence returned by law enforcement agencies and returns it to appropriate departments.
  • Provides superior customer service, positively effects interactions with customers and employees and has the resiliency to deal with difficult customers in all types of business conditions and the ability to work harmoniously with co-workers.
  • Enforce company security regulations.
  • Guard transfer of money and throughout casino.
  • Perform all security-related duties for the casino.
  • Represent the company and its property to ensure all casino regulations are always adhered to.
  • Patrol all sections of the casino to identify safety hazards and breaks in security.
  • Maintain confidentiality according to Harrah’s guidelines.
  • Provide medical assistance, without hesitation, following proper procedures and techniques as a “First Responder” to persons in need, including “First Aid” and “CPR”, when necessary.
  • Respond to dispatched medical calls and follow the Arizona Department of Health Services (AZDHS) EMS protocols.
  • Assess medical situations and act until relieved by advanced medical personnel.
  • Coordinate with EMS, fire, and law enforcement.
  • Maintain and restock medical equipment and supplies.
  • Responsible for conducting a visual inspection of the Automated External Defibrillation (AED).
  • Document all medical responses.
  • Oversee and maintain control of incidents occurring on property when First Responder Supervisor or Security Supervisors are unable to respond.
  • Assists First Responder Supervisor with department and property training.
  • Initiate and conduct the investigative process, when necessary, under the direction of the Security Supervisor.
  • Meets the attendance guidelines of the job and adheres to regulatory, departmental and company policies.
  • Acts as a role model to other employees and always presents oneself as a credit to Harrah’s and encourages others to do the same.
  • Other duties as assigned.
