About The Position

The Security Estimator will be responsible for estimating and preparing proposals for burglar alarms, CCTV, surveillance systems, etc. This role involves performing bid layouts, completing material takeoffs, obtaining vendor pricing, and writing quotes. The position requires reading, learning, interpreting, and applying code requirements pertaining to job specifications, and working with sales, operations, and design staff to interpret project specifications. The Security Estimator will produce timely and accurate estimates according to fixed bid dates/schedules, generate status reports, and participate in planning meetings. Responsibilities also include timely and accurate entries into operating systems and regular updates to Compass, while modeling the Company’s Core Values.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience estimating security systems.
• Familiarity with and ability to read, interpret, and apply NFPA Code.
• Ability to create alarm & suppression layouts and perform material take-offs.
• Strong math skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Self-starter with ability to use independent judgement.
• Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to deliver high quality results by deadlines.
• Ability to work effectively within a team as well as independently.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• High School diploma or GED required.
• Commitment to continuous improvement.
• Great attention to detail.
• Experience working against deadlines and an excellent track record of completing projects on time.
• Proven dedication to safety compliance and safe work practices.
• Ability to travel overnight occasionally.
• Ability to maintain valid driver’s license and drive to job sites.
• Ability to sit at a desk/computer station and work on a computer for long periods of time.
• Requires manual dexterity for typing and using a mouse.
• Ability to walk and maneuver self around construction job sites and climb ladders occasionally.
• Ability to withstand occasional exposure to hot, cold, and/or inclement weather on job sites.
• Ability to wear PPE such as steel toe shoes, ear plugs, safety glass, safety harnesses, hard hats, and escape packs occasionally on job sites.
• Minimal lifting, pushing, or pulling required.
• Ability to work long hours and weekends when necessary.

Nice To Haves

• 5+ years of experience estimating or designing industrial fire alarm and suppression applications, or CCTV, access control, intercom, or security systems preferred.
• Experience with low voltage systems (Fire Alarm, Access Control, CCTV, Security) preferred.
• Electrical experience preferred.
• License for area of expertise preferred.
• CFPS certification (Certified Fire Protection Specialist) is a plus

Responsibilities
