About The Position

The Security Manager takes the lead on all security-related matters at the District and reports to the District Manager, who is ultimately responsible for the full implementation of Expeditors Security Standards at the District. The Environmental Health and Safety Manager takes the lead on all health and safety-related matters at the District and reports to the District Manager, who is ultimately responsible for the full implementation of Expeditors Environmental Health and Safety Standards at the District. Both roles involve supporting the full implementation of Expeditors' respective standards and educating colleagues and Service Providers to enhance an overall culture of security and safety.

  • District Security Operations Expertise: Collects, evaluates and responds to information concerning potential security threats to include cybersecurity. Supports full implementation of Expeditors' Security Standards. Coordinates timely completion of all security-related functions to include timely action of Security Corrective Action/Preventative Actions with appropriate stakeholders. Maintains contacts with local and State law-enforcement. Supports Business Continuity Plan development and testing.
  • Proactive and organized for continuous and productive monthly call activity so that: calls are scheduled two weeks in advance, call schedule is full for the following week, completed call and joint call expectations are achieved monthly.
  • Security Incident Response: Leads all District Security incidents investigations whilst coordinating with Regional and CHQ resources. Collaborates and leads District employees and Management on completing and investigating Security Incidents in a timely manner.
  • Government and Industry Security Program Expertise: Knowledgeable about security regulatory programs that affect the specific services Expeditors provides to our customers (both Government and Industry). For example: CTPAT; AEO; EC300; TAPA; ACAS; etc. Able to confidently present to and interact with internal and external stakeholders, including customers and governmental officials.
  • Security Tools Expertise: Manages and operates security systems (e.g. CCTV, intrusion alarm, access control, etc.) according to security requirements.
  • Service Provider Security Evaluation: Collaborates with the District Service Provider Manager to ensure Service Providers meet Expeditors' Security Standards and general security controls.
  • District Health and Safety Operational Expertise: Monitors and assesses un-safe conditions and develops measures to mitigate the risks of related hazards (including performing Risk Assessments). Supports full implementation of Expeditors' Safety Standards in compliance with all additional local guidelines. Coordinates timely completion of all safety-related functions to include action of Safety Corrective Action/Preventative Actions with appropriate stakeholders. Supports Business Continuity Plan development and testing.
  • Local Health and Safety Requirements Expertise: Knowledgeable about local Health and Safety programs and regulations that affect the specific service Expeditors provides. For example, OSHA; Safe Systems of Work; MOM; etc.
  • Safety Incident Response: Leads all District Safety concerns and incidents investigations, whilst coordinating with Regional and CHQ resources. Coaches District employees and Management on the importance of reporting safety concerns. Collaborates and leads District employees and Management on completing and investigating Safety Incidents in a timely manner.
  • Safety Tools Expertise: Manages health and safety systems including familiarity of all safety controls (e.g., fire alarms, extinguishers, forklifts, etc.).
  • Service Provider Health and Safety Evaluation: Collaborates with the District Service Provider Manager to ensure Service Providers meet Expeditors' Health and Safety Standards and general safety controls.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and operate security systems (Security, Health and Safety Portal, CCTV, intrusion alarm, access control, etc.).
  • Coordinate timely completion (within 90 days) of outstanding Security Corrective Actions.
  • Preventive Actions with appropriate parties, and communicate issues to the District Manager and Regional Security Manager/Director.
  • Be a part of the District Business Review meeting to discuss security-related issues, concerns, and best practices.
  • Coach employees and management on how to complete incident reporting per the Security Incident Reporting Standard.
  • Take the lead on all district security incident investigations, in coordination with Regional and CHQ Security.
  • Support Business Continuity Plan development and testing.
  • Facilitate the development of a security-conscious mindset within the district.
  • Own and report on all security-related communication with Expeditors District, Local police department, Customers, Service Providers, Regional / CHQ Security and Cargo Signal Teams.
  • Support product and account management with security matters related to port authority, carriers, warehouses, AEO and CTPAT programs, etc.
  • Support sales initiatives and facilitation of customer-specific security requirements.
  • Support Cargo Signal sales engagements, as needed.
  • Support customers’ security teams including involvement in preparing for any customer security audits.
  • Keep district management and sales up to date on new security initiatives, training material and security-related information provided by the Regional / CHQ Security.
  • Ensure 100% district compliance with all local security regulations, in coordination with district compliance officers.
  • Ensure 100% district compliance with all Operational Performance Standards (Expeditors Security Standards).
  • Conduct Security & Safety on-boarding orientation with new Service Providers.
  • Conduct Service Provider Risk Reviews to confirm 100% compliance with the Security & Safety Notice.
  • Communicate all non-compliant items on the Risk Review to the Service Provider Manager and/or applicable Department Manager at the district who is responsible for following up and resolving each issue with the Service Provider within 90 days.
  • Monitor for resolution of open action items at the 90 and 180 days to determine appropriate security status.
  • Be familiar with the background of, and Expeditors’ participation in, the CTPAT program and/or local AEO / WCO program.
  • Understand how to prepare for a CTPAT/AEO validation visit using the CTPAT Validation Process Flow Chart.
  • Follow process for comprehensive recap after a validation visit.
  • Understand the benefits of CTPAT as it related to business resumption as supported by the branches business continuity plan.
  • Deliver and/or facilitate security-related district-trainer-led courses as required/requested.
  • Deliver Facility Lockdown Orientation and Trash Inspection training.
  • Communicate security standards in detail levels according to job functions.
  • Attend the Security Manager conference calls, as required.
  • Achieve Level I Trainer Certification by completing the Facilitation Course (within 6 months).

  • Manage implementation of all applicable local compliance to Environmental Health and Safety procedures, laws, and regulations.

  • Own reporting and management of workplace safety incidents and near misses, including root cause analysis and risk mitigation.
  • Manage investigation and closure of workplace safety incidents and near misses within 30 days.
  • Coordinate timely completion within 90 days of outstanding Environmental Health and Safety Improvement Opportunities with appropriate parties, and communicate issues to the District Manager and Regional Safety Manager/Director.
  • Be a part of the District Business Review meeting to discuss environmental health and safety related issues, concerns, and best practices.
  • Educate employees/management on how to complete incident reporting.
  • Facilitate the development of an environmental health and safety conscious culture at the District.
  • Own and report on all health and safety related communication among Expeditors District (especially in the warehouse), Regional and CHQ Environmental Health and Safety teams, Service Providers, and Customers (communicating our standards).
  • Support sales and account management with environmental health and safety matters related to jurisdiction, carriers, warehouses, etc.
  • Support customer-related health and safety inquiries.
  • Support customers health and safety teams including involvement in preparing for any customer health and safety audits.
  • Keep District management and sales up to date on new health and safety initiatives, changes in local laws and regulations, training material and health and safety related information provided by the Regional Safety Manager/Director.
  • Promote the Global / Local Program (ex. safety flyers, signage).
  • Ensure 100% District compliance with all local health and safety regulations, in coordination with any District / external compliance officers.
  • Ensure 100% District compliance with all Operational Performance Standards (Expeditors Environmental Health and Safety Standards).
  • Perform Risk Assessments of all facilities in order to identify hazards and mitigate risk to employees and visitors.
  • Compliance with local procedures (ex. PPE).
  • Deliver health and safety related trainer led courses as required/requested.
  • Facilitate external training sessions where applicable.
  • Communicate health and safety standards in detail levels according to job functions.
  • Attend the monthly Environmental Health and Safety Manager conference calls.
