About The Position

Resolution is seeking a hands-on, strategic leader to build and own the Corporate IT and Security function from the ground up. As the organization scales, this role will be accountable for ensuring researchers have the tools they need to operate efficiently while maintaining a strong security posture. The ideal candidate is a builder comfortable with technical details and strategic enablement, aiming to support world-class research through secure infrastructure. This role is unique as it's a core component of the research strategy, enabling collaborations and partnerships by securing operations and defining operational security standards for AI safety organizations.

Requirements

  • Hands-on operator with a technical background, comfortable configuring systems, scripting automation, and personally setting up the stack.
  • Understanding of the threat model of a high-stakes research organization.
  • Ability to balance extreme security with an AI lab's 'move fast' requirements.
  • Experience building an IT and/or security function from scratch.
  • Ability to operate with autonomy and ambiguity in an early-stage organization.
  • Ability to translate technical security requirements into plain English for researchers, theorists, and leadership.
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks (SOC 2, ISO 27001) and partner-lab security requirements.
  • Willingness to use AI tools aggressively in your own workflow, with appropriate care.
  • Motivation by alignment of artificial superintelligence (ASI) and a desire to contribute to it full-time.
  • A bachelor's degree in a field relevant to the role, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or professional experience.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deploy a secure-by-default environment for a diverse workforce, spanning in-person teams and remote researchers globally.
  • Manage endpoint security (MDM/EDR) for a hybrid fleet, ensuring researchers can interact with high-value research code and data safely without sacrificing velocity.
  • Implement a robust Zero-Trust architecture, defining the lifecycle of identities for staff, collaborators, and automated research agents.
  • Ensure rigorous access control management, balancing open-science publication goals with the sensitivity of pre-publication research and model access.
  • Secure communication channels by implementing advanced email security, phishing protection, and secure collaborative workflows.
  • Act as the primary bridge between research needs and external AI lab security requirements, navigating security audits to gain and maintain access to frontier models.
  • Turn compliance into an accelerator for the research agenda.

Benefits

  • 5 weeks of paid vacation per year, in addition to public holidays.
  • Comprehensive healthcare insurance (medical, dental, vision).
  • Unlimited sick leave.
  • An unconditional 401(k) contribution equal to 4% of your salary.
  • Visa sponsorship may be possible in some circumstances.
