About The Position

Peraton is seeking incumbent and external qualified candidates to support North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) Cheyene Mountain Complex (NCMC) – Integrated Tactical Warning/Attack Assessment (NCMC-ITW/AA) and Space Support Contract III (NISSC III). This role is contingent upon contract award, with an anticipated decision expected mid to late 2026. Qualified candidates will help operate, maintain, and sustain critical national mission systems to deliver resilient strategic threat warning and space capabilities as part of a world-wide architecture, providing strategic warning that our nation depends on during a conflict. This program will provide an opportunity to exploit the capabilities inherent in our diverse national systems to better meet the needs of the national command authority and warfighters to detect, track, and respond to strategic threats through 2030 and beyond. The Security Engineer / ISSE will support cybersecurity engineering, system security integration, risk management, and compliance activities supporting mission-critical NORAD and USSPACECOM operations within the Cheyenne Mountain Complex environment. This role will support security engineering efforts across complex operational and developmental environments supporting space, missile warning, command-and-control, and enterprise mission systems. The ideal candidate will possess experience integrating cybersecurity requirements into system architecture, engineering, testing, and operational sustainment activities within classified DoD environments while collaborating closely with systems engineering, software development, integration, and operations teams to improve system security, mission readiness, and operational resilience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of relevant experience; OR Master’s degree with 3+ years of relevant experience. Additional four (4) years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree
  • Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility required, ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI access required
  • Experience supporting cybersecurity engineering or ISSE activities within DoD, Intelligence Community, space, missile defense, or command-and-control environments
  • Experience supporting RMF, security compliance, and cybersecurity integration activities
  • Familiarity with NIST RMF, NIST SP 800-53, STIGs, security hardening, and vulnerability management processes
  • Experience supporting system accreditation, vulnerability remediation, and cybersecurity testing activities
  • Familiarity with Linux and/or Windows operating environments
  • Ability to collaborate across engineering, software development, integration, and operations teams

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting NORAD, USSPACECOM, Space Force, missile warning, or space domain awareness missions
  • Experience supporting satellite ground systems, command-and-control systems, or enterprise mission systems
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps and secure system integration methodologies
  • Experience with cybersecurity tools such as ACAS, SCAP, HBSS, Splunk, eMASS, Nessus, or similar platforms
  • Familiarity with Zero Trust architecture and cybersecurity engineering best practices
  • Experience supporting cybersecurity activities within classified operational environments
  • CISSP, CASP+, Security+, or other DoD 8140/8570 compliant certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Support cybersecurity engineering activities throughout the system lifecycle including design, integration, testing, deployment, sustainment, and modernization
  • Support implementation and integration of cybersecurity controls, security architectures, and defensive technologies across mission systems and enterprise environments
  • Assist with Risk Management Framework (RMF) activities including security control implementation, assessment support, POA&M management, and compliance documentation
  • Support system hardening, vulnerability assessment, patch management, and security remediation activities
  • Collaborate with systems engineering, software development, integration, and operations teams to ensure cybersecurity requirements are incorporated into system designs and deployments
  • Support security testing, verification and validation activities, vulnerability scanning, and operational security assessments
  • Analyze and troubleshoot cybersecurity issues, system vulnerabilities, and operational security incidents
  • Develop and maintain cybersecurity documentation including SSPs, security procedures, architecture artifacts, and technical assessments
  • Support continuous monitoring, audit readiness, and cybersecurity compliance activities within classified environments
  • Participate in Agile development, DevSecOps, and integration activities supporting secure system delivery and operational readiness
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on cybersecurity posture, system resilience, and mission assurance
