About The Position

Saronic Technologies is seeking a Security Engineer for AI Platform Engineering to make AI both safe and self-service. This role focuses on building a secure platform and enablement function for AI, creating a secure path for teams to utilize AI without resorting to unmanaged solutions. The engineer will partner with departments to understand their needs, educate them on safe AI usage, and develop secure, compliant, and well-hosted AI solutions. This is an opportunity to define and own AI governance and security from the ground up, building AI applications that enhance departmental capabilities. Requirements

  • Genuine AI power user who builds: shipped agents, tools, or automations with LLMs, and can explain the hard parts.
  • Builds real backends and infrastructure: APIs, data pipelines, authentication and secrets, hosting and deployment (containers, Infrastructure-as-Code, CI/CD), and systems integration, with observability, evals, and graceful failure handling.
  • Fluency with modern agent concepts: agentic loops, agent harnesses, context engineering, tool use / function calling, MCP, and evals.
  • Working knowledge of the strengths and weaknesses of different AI models and platforms, and how to match the right model to a task.
  • Sufficient software and security foundation to build and secure production systems, with sound judgment on data handling and safe AI usage.
  • Immense kindness and patience for supporting and teaching non-technical users.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Build AI-powered applications, agents, and automations for teams across the company on cloud platforms, ensuring secure-by-default solutions with real backends, infrastructure, and integrations.
  • Educate teams on safe and effective AI usage and set company-wide standards for AI.
  • Own AI governance, visibility, inventory, monitoring, logging, and prompt/output data-loss-prevention to protect sensitive data.
  • Implement guardrails for AI usage, treat AI agents as identities with least privilege, govern model and agent access, and ensure the sanctioned path is the most convenient.
  • Build reliable agents and workflows, design tool use and MCP integrations, manage context and memory, and validate quality with evaluative loops.
