About The Position

This position is a vital member of the security team. Accepting the initial calls for security and dispatching important information to the officers. Monitoring alarms and CCTV footage. Hours are primarily 6pm to 6am. Dispatchers must have the basic knowledge and skills necessary to assist in providing patient care and transportation. Depending on job setting, receive requests for either air and/or ground medical transport, initiating the mobilization of the appropriate teams and communicating with referring hospitals/services.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Depending on location of hire and job setting, formal knowledge and training of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) principles, practices, and techniques or relevant dispatch experience is helpful for this role but not required.
Depending on location of hire and job setting, Emergency Medical Dispatch certified or automated external defibrillator (AED) Emergency Medical Dispatch certification should be acquired within six months from date of hire.

Responsibilities

Accepting the initial calls for security and dispatching important information to the officers.
Monitoring alarms and CCTV footage.
Receive requests for either air and/or ground medical transport, initiating the mobilization of the appropriate teams and communicating with referring hospitals/services.
Ability to multitask, be detail orientated and thorough in completing daily tasks.
Ability to deal with high stress situations calmly and effectively while maintaining composure in very difficult situations to collect vital information from callers to determine the severity of a situation and the location to those who need assistance.
Listens carefully to collect relevant details and be able to type the details of calls into computers, and speed and accuracy is of importance when responding to emergencies.
Effectively uses radios and other forms of communication.
Works with growth and development needs of a diverse population.
Perform data entry using the computer, compiling QI (Quality Improvement) data, SharePoint, and typing any other documentation as assigned and maintain access to, and security of, highly sensitive materials.
Ability to read and effectively interpret small-scale maps and information from a computer screen to determine locations and provide directions.
Searches files, databases or other reference materials to obtain needed information.
Knowledge to operate the computer software necessary to document flights as well as the skill in radio communications with the medical teams and pilots on medical transports.
Maintain a sense of pride and ownership for the program.
May require sitting for extended periods of time.
Attends training classes to maintain certification licensure, keep abreast of new developments in the field, or maintain existing knowledge.
