About The Position

This job answers internal/external calls for Security Operations, which average 2-3,000 transactions daily. It involves answering routine and emergency calls for security assistance, obtaining necessary information, dispatching security officers, and making notifications to on-duty supervisors. The role responds to all emergency situations and hospital/clinic codes, monitors video screens, maintains security logs, and handles all call and on-call duties for security and emergency preparedness for the main campus and regional clinics. This includes notifications for security incidents and emergency preparedness issues.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year experience as a telephone operator, dispatcher, or related experience
  • International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) Certification to be obtained within 90 days of promotion/hire
  • Computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information.
  • Proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals.

Responsibilities

  • Answers internal/external calls for Security Operations.
  • Answers routine and emergency calls for security assistance.
  • Dispatches security officers to calls for service.
  • Makes notifications to on-duty supervisors.
  • Responds to all emergency situations and hospital/clinic codes.
  • Monitors hospital/clinic video screens.
  • Maintains security log and all associated computer entries.
  • Handles all call and on-call duties for security and emergency preparedness for main campus and regional clinics.
  • Handles notifications for security incidents and emergency preparedness issues.
  • Consistently answers calls using standard company greeting.
  • Solicits and documents information needed from callers to determine the level of security assistance required.
  • Dispatches officers to assist callers.
  • Responds to all codes/notifications during emergency incidents.
  • Remains knowledgeable on current federal, state, and local laws, accreditation standards, or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility and ensures compliance.
  • Reports any known or suspected unethical or questionable behaviors or conduct; patient/employee safety, patient privacy, and/or other compliance-related concerns.
