About The Position

Baptist Health is the largest healthcare system serving central Alabama, providing comprehensive hospital-based and outpatient services to nearly 60 percent of the residents in Montgomery, Autauga and Elmore counties. The Security Communication Operator protects Baptist Health patients, employees and properties by sending and receiving radio transmissions from field units and operating security CCTV. This role also answers the telephone, determines the form of assistance required, assures departmental response, and refers the call to other sources for resolution. The operator is responsible for operating equipment in the Communications Center.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with people of various backgrounds throughout the organization.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain a professional and customer centric composure in difficult or challenging situations.
  • Ability to work from broad directions and be self motivated.
  • Position requires sitting for 95% of the workday and mobility 5% of the workday.
  • Occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
  • Frequent reaching, use of hands and repetitive action.
  • Occasional lifting or carrying up to 25 pounds, pushing/pulling up to 75 pounds.
  • Continuous need for speaking with clear diction and hearing sensitivity in conversation either by phone or in person.
  • Continuous visual acuity at close and distant range.
  • Inside protected from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
  • Minimal noise levels.
  • Much exposure to computer work.
  • Occasional exposure to risk of electrical shock.
  • Some exposure to infectious disease while performing job-related tasks.
  • Some exposure to hazardous chemicals.
  • Occasional exposure to radiation.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior civilian or military law enforcement experience preferred.
