About The Position

This role provides essential technical advice and security support to multiple collateral programs and, where specifically called for, SCI programs within the directorate. The Security Assistant will maintain effective working relationships with Information Protection (IP) leads, program managers, and contracting officers to ensure standardized and accurate protection integration throughout the acquisition and sustainment life cycle of directorate programs. Key responsibilities include developing and writing various security plans and documents, reviewing program documentation for public release, providing classification guidance, advising on counterintelligence threats, and assisting with the development of critical security program documents.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in a related field in a DoD environment
  • Demonstrable understanding of counterintelligence threats and trends
  • Familiarity with security policy/manuals and the appropriate DoD and Air Force directives, manuals and instructions
  • Familiarity with DISS
  • Basic knowledge of the DD Form 254 and its incorporation in the Air Force acquisition process
  • Demonstrated maturity and ability in handling sensitive information with discretion and sound judgment
  • Must be willing to travel within organization’s direct area of responsibility
  • Must be willing to adapt to contingency schedule if required
  • Must be able to identify classified documents/information, and know proper safeguarding
  • Must complete all required security training in accordance with DoD and Air Force regulations
  • Must be a US citizen
  • Must have an active Secret clearance

  • Understanding of cloud-based classified systems and connections is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical advice and security support to multiple collateral programs and SCI programs.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with Information Protection (IP) leads, program managers, and contracting officers.
  • Develop and write Operations Security (OPSEC) plans, transition plans, emergency action plans, transportation plans, and other security documents.
  • Review program documentation for public release, ensuring proper markings, classifications, and distribution statements per DoD and AF guidance.
  • Provide classification guidance and assistance for collateral and SCI programs.
  • Advise on counterintelligence threats and trends.
  • Assist with the development of Security Classification Guides, Program Protection Plans, Security Operating Procedures (SOP), and DD Form 254s.
  • Provide classification reviews of inbound and outbound correspondence.
  • Prepare, process, and distribute inbound/outbound classified mail.
  • Prepare classified packages, courier forms, and maintain receipt records.
  • Perform destruction of classified materials and CUI.
  • Provide reproduction support for classified materials.
  • Review, track, and monitor security clearances via Defense Information System for Security (DISS).
  • Ensure personnel security clearances are current and access is verified.
  • Process collateral access sets (e.g., NATO, FRD/RD/CNWDI).
  • Identify missing SF-312/Non-Disclosure Agreements and alert IP lead.
  • Prepare, process, and/or review Visitor Access Request (VAR).
  • Research, process, file, and maintain inbound and outbound VAR notices.
  • Input foreign visit and foreign contacts in DISS.
  • Coordinate with IP lead/IP Personnel Security Office for initiation of Electronic Questionnaires for Investigation (e-QIPS)/Standard Form 86.
  • Support IP lead/IP Personal Security Office with military and government civilian fingerprinting.
  • Prepare inspection materials and create Management Internal Control Toolset (MICT) artifacts.
  • Conduct entry and exit inspections and other random anti-terrorism measures.
  • Maintain facility access control, including visitor control/escorting and access badge management.
  • Perform data entry to the security system database.
  • Follow and enforce Government standard operating procedures or Operating Instructions.
  • Assume duties of Communications Security Responsible Officers or Secure Voice Responsible Officers.
  • Assume duties of alternate equipment custodian.
  • Provide security support to Classified Processing Areas (CAP) or Secure Work Areas (SWA).
  • Support monitoring and projects for secure spaces and operate secure VTC systems.
  • Assist with alarm operations.
  • Support classified meetings and related security requirements.
  • Contribute to security awareness and education programs.
  • Perform miscellaneous administrative support.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
