About The Position

As MISO’s Security Architect I, you will support the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of secure architectures across enterprise systems, applications, and cloud platforms. This role places a strong emphasis on automation, scripting, configuration hardening, and embedding secure-by-design principles across technology teams. You’ll contribute to threat modeling, reference architectures, and the development of repeatable security patterns that improve consistency and reduce risk. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field, with strong understanding of authentication, networking, encryption, and core security principles.
  • Experience implementing configuration hardening using DISA STIGs, CIS Benchmarks, or similar standards.
  • Strong proficiency in scripting and automation using languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain security automation workflows using scripting languages (Python, PowerShell, Bash, etc.).
  • Integrate security checks into CI/CD pipelines, IaC templates, and cloud provisioning processes.
  • Automate compliance scanning, vulnerability identification, configuration validation, and enforcement of baselines.
  • Develop repeatable automation used to embed secure-by-design practices into engineering and operations.
  • Develop and integrate security tooling via APIs to improve automation and operational efficiency
  • Apply and enforce hardening standards including DISA STIGs, CIS Benchmarks, and internal security baselines.
  • Develop automated methods to detect, validate, and remediate deviations from required configurations.
  • Document security requirements and validate design adherence.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure hardened images, templates, and system builds remain compliant.
  • Assists various IT departments with design, implementation and troubleshooting of security technologies.
