As a Security Analyst - Data Analytics & Optimization within PNC's Cyber Defense organization, you can be based in Pittsburgh, PA; Birmingham, AL; or Cleveland, OH. The Global Security Fusion Center’s (GSFC) Data Analytics & Optimization team provides information- and data-related work products which support department leaders and executives in decision making to reduce risk and to improve the overall security posture of the organization. Information takes a number of forms including presentations, Tableau dashboards, analytical summaries, metric data, and data-backed insights which require interactions and coordination across many partner organizations across GSFC and the enterprise. PNC is an in-office company that fosters a supportive culture where employees can thrive and achieve balance. The position is primarily based in a PNC location. Responsibilities require time in the office or in the field on a regular basis. Some responsibilities may be performed remotely, at the manager’s discretion.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in data analytics, reporting, and metric development, preferably within a Cybersecurity, Technology, or Risk Management environment.
  • Proficiency with data visualization tools, particularly Tableau; experience with or strong aptitude for Power BI.
  • Experience writing and validating SQL queries and working with structured datasets, with an understanding of data access controls and governance principles.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to synthesize data and articulate insights clearly through dashboards, presentations, and analytical summaries.
  • Working knowledge of information security concepts, controls, and operational metrics.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to effectively partner with technical subject matter experts and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple reporting deliverables in a highly visible, fast-paced security environment.
  • Advance experience with Microsoft Office Tools: PowerPoint, Word, Outlook
  • Familiar with Python

  • Roles at this level typically require a university / college degree, with 3+ years of relevant / direct industry experience.
  • In lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education, job specific certification(s), and experience (including military service) may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Produce, analyze, and deliver recurring and ad hoc security metrics and reports to support GSFC leadership, executive committees, and Board-level reporting.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance dashboards and visualizations using Tableau, with a transition to Power BI, to communicate security trends, risks, and operational performance.
  • Analyze security operations, threat activity, staffing models (gearing ratios), and tool utilization data to generate clear analytical summaries and actionable insights.
  • Collaborate closely with subject matter experts across cyber defense functions, including threat intelligence, perimeter defense, security operations, and incident management, to ensure accuracy and relevance of reporting.
  • Translate complex technical and security data into presentations and written materials suitable for senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Ensure consistency, accuracy, and integrity of data through validation, documentation, and adherence to established data governance and access control requirements.
  • Support internal audits, regulatory examinations, and risk assessments by providing timely, accurate, and well-documented metrics and analyses.
  • Perform independent analytical work while maintaining regular engagement with stakeholders to understand evolving reporting needs and security priorities.
  • Apply foundational security concepts to interpret data, assess trends, and identify opportunities to improve operational effectiveness and risk management.
