About The Position

Johnson Controls is seeking an experienced Commercial Installer to set up and program integrated security fire and security systems for commercial customers. This role involves the installation of complex systems including access control, CCTV, digital recorders, network recorders, and intercom systems. The installer will be responsible for wiring, equipment installation, programming, and troubleshooting, ensuring systems meet national electric code, company, and customer guidelines. The position requires reading and interpreting technical documents, performing system checks, and conducting end-user training. The installer must be capable of working independently and using hand and power tools for equipment mounting and securing.

Requirements

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Significant background (5+ years) with Commercial Fire Alarm Systems, Commercial Digital & Analog Camera Systems and/or Commercial Access Control Systems.
Understanding of the function and design of Alarm Systems.
Experience with IP addressable security devices (2+ years).
Must be computer literate to include advanced TCP/IP networking skills.
Required to participate in After-Hour On-Call Rotation.
Must be able to operate a company truck with an acceptable driving record.
Proficient with all aspects and operation of ADT A.I. core card access, CCTV systems.
Proficient with NFPA Code and National electric Code (NEC).

Nice To Haves

Associate degree or 2-year technical school program graduate preferred.
An industry-recognized apprentice training program may be substituted for the formal education requirement.

Any Town Fire Alarm Listed Agent Certifications

Responsibilities

Installation of complex integrated security systems including wiring, equipment, and programming of access control systems, CCTV, digital recorders, network recorders, and intercom systems for clients.
Dismantling and reconstructing equipment when necessary.
Installing cabling, field equipment & control equipment enclosures in customer locations according to national electric code, company and customer guidelines.
Using electronic test equipment to troubleshoot complicated problems during installation.
Reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, submittments, specifications, software/systems programs, schematics and operational product manuals.
Readjusting equipment, repairing or replacing inoperative equipment and testing for operation.
Performing system checks for proper operation.
Planning, organizing and prioritizing work paying close attention to details.
Communicating effectively, orally and in writing, while establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships.
Analyzing information.
Working unsupervised to complete installation jobs and being self-motivated to complete jobs.
Completing and submitting all necessary paperwork related to job assignments.
Using hand and power tools to properly mount and secure equipment.
Feeding cables through access holes, roof spaces, and cavity walls to reach fixture outlets; then positioning and terminating cables, wires and strapping.
Drilling holes for wiring in wall studs, joists, ceilings, and floors.
Conducting End-User training.
Isolating trouble to a customer network, where applicable.
