About The Position

Corporate Security is responsible for the management of all security concerns relating to staff, elected officials, visiting dignitaries and the public, asset security and security systems, development of policy and procedures, and long range security plans and implementation strategies. You are responsible for providing a safe and secure environment for City of Ottawa staff and assets through the delivery of security services. Accountable for client management, investigating security incidents, managing security system projects, conducting analysis and making recommendations for improved security measures, delivering security awareness training, developing plans and supervising security for special events.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of 2 year college diploma in Security Administration/Management, Public Safety, Police Foundations, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the security field.
  • Experience conducting Workplace Security/CPTED (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design) assessments.
  • Experience with ESRM (Enterprise Security Risk Management) concepts and applications.
  • Experience in the design, and management of electronic security system projects.
  • Experience in organizing and delivering Security Awareness Seminars.
  • Proficient in the use of Office 365 software.
  • Observe confidentiality on all matters relating to security.
  • Communicate effectively (written, verbal and interpersonal communication) at all organizational levels.
  • Interact effectively and productively with various clients and user groups with different cultural perspectives and priorities.
  • Ability to analyze problems and work with a team to develop realistic and innovative solutions to problems involving security issues.
  • Able to interpret and translate legislation into common language for communication with client groups.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Ability to manage change effectively, by shifting priorities and adapting to changes to meet organizational and program requirements.
  • Customer service attitude tempered by the recognition of the need for corporate standards, formats, and systems.
  • English oral, reading, writing.

Nice To Haves

  • Applicants who have obtained CPTED (Crime Prevention Through Environmental) certification.
  • Applicants who hold ASIS certification, i.e: PSP (Physical Security Professional), or CPP (Certified Protection Professional).
  • Certified Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design Practitioner is desirable.
  • Member of ASIS International Canada (American Society for Industrial Security) is desirable.
