Securities & Derivatives Sr Manager Hybrid

CitiGetzville, NY
$92,000 - $138,000Hybrid

About The Position

This is a critical leadership role reporting directly to the Senior Vice President of MBS, Securitization, and Warehouse Lending Operations within Cash Securities. We are looking for an institutional builder who takes complete ownership, not just a manager. You will take on full responsibility for the MBS Allocations and MBS Settlements functions, two teams at the core of our operational delivery. This isn't a role for a caretaker. We need a leader who can look at complex processes, simplify them, and bring a creative, pragmatic spin to how we operate. You are here to challenge the status quo, elevate capability, and make a measurable impact. Your primary mandate is to mature the culture, drive strategic improvements, and develop your AVPs into true leaders who, in turn, build their own teams. This role is about building a sustainable impact and a stronger, more resilient organization.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated, deep expertise in Financial Services Operations, with a strong focus on Fixed Income, Mortgage-Backed Securities (MBS), or similarly complex settlement environments.
  • A proven track record of direct people management, with specific experience coaching AVPs or junior managers and developing a leadership pipeline.
  • Verifiable experience in leading process re-engineering, risk management, and control framework enhancements.
  • Strong ability to partner with and influence senior stakeholders across functions, including Technology, Risk, and the Front Office.
  • Familiarity with the potential of AI and automation tools to transform operations; demonstrated curiosity or experience in applying these technologies is highly valued.
  • FINRA Series 99 license, or the ability to obtain it within 120 days of hire, is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Directly manage and develop a team of AVPs and officers specializing in MBS Operations. Set clear performance standards and own the full talent lifecycle, including coaching and building a succession pipeline for this critical product area.
  • Oversee all daily MBS settlement and allocation cycles, ensuring timely and accurate execution of TBA pair-offs, pool allocations, and related wire activity. Proactively manage settlement fails and associated market risk.
  • Drive process simplification and innovation specifically within the MBS lifecycle. Challenge existing workflows for TBA netting, pool processing, and reconciliations to implement a more resilient and efficient operating model.
  • Own the risk and control environment for both MBS functions. Ensure robust controls are in place for managing settlement exposure, mitigating operational risks associated with TBA processing, and ensuring full audit readiness.
  • Act as the primary leadership contact for the MBS trading desk, technology, compliance, and other internal partners. Build strong relationships to ensure alignment on resolving complex trade issues and driving a shared agenda.
