About The Position

Arcadis is seeking a Sector Portfolio Leader - Water to support the Commercial Operations Sector Director Water. This role will focus on building Arcadis's awareness and market presence in Northern Ohio and Michigan for the Water Sector Portfolio. The leader will act as a business leader, supporting Account Managers to strengthen client relationships, increase Net Order Intake (NOI) and Net Revenue (NR), and coordinate with Client Portfolio Managers to execute sector strategies. The position involves driving the overall Portfolio strategy, ensuring innovation and alignment with organizational objectives, and assisting in the preparation of annual client business plans. A key aspect is strengthening Arcadis's brand as a thought leader by attending industry events and conferences. The role also includes supporting stakeholder management for strategic clients, ensuring financial performance aligns with targets, pursuing new commercial models, and managing the business pipeline. Additionally, the Sector Portfolio Leader will mentor and guide Client Portfolio Managers and Account Leaders, supporting their professional development and account management capabilities.

Requirements

  • Extensive leadership experience in the Water Sector with clear accountability for sales growth, client portfolio performance and pricing strategy across strategic client portfolios.
  • Strong financial acumen for pricing services, margin optimization and risk management, including experience shaping commercial models that balance competitiveness and profitability.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills for high-level client engagement, with the ability to represent Arcadis credibly with senior client and partner stakeholders.
  • Exceptional relationship building, combining sector expertise with strong client engagement and stakeholder management, inspiring high performing teams and fostering collaboration to achieve client goals.
  • Minimum of 15 years’ experience in water / wastewater / stormwater project management, design management, business operations, or related.
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering in Civil, Environmental, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • P.E. License or ability to obtain in 6 months.
  • Strong client relationship skills with a successful track record of delivering engineering projects that meet or exceed client expectations.
  • Strong leadership capabilities with an emphasis on inspiring and influencing diverse teams of people.
  • Strong project management experience on municipal water, wastewater, or stormwater projects of various sizes.
  • Excellent technical engineering skills with clear and concise written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Commercial Operations Sector Director Water in building and driving the overall Portfolio strategy.
  • Ensure the approach remains innovative and aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Work closely with Client Portfolio Managers to execute sector strategies.
  • Assist Client Portfolio Managers and Account Managers in the preparation and submission of annual client business plans.
  • Strengthen Arcadis’ brand presence in the market by attending industry events and conferences.
  • Actively help to position Arcadis as a thought leader within client portfolios.
  • Support Account Managers with stakeholder management for strategically important clients.
  • Ensure the Portfolio’s financial performance aligns with established targets.
  • Work collaboratively to pursue new commercial models with clients where appropriate.
  • Support Client Portfolio Managers and Account Leaders in achieving financial objectives such as NOI, NR, cash, and margin.
  • Ensure financial objectives are in line with sector goals and that the business pipeline is managed accurately and efficiently.
  • Act as a mentor and guide for Client Portfolio Managers and Account Leaders, providing direction on portfolio strategy and people management.
  • Support professional development by helping to build account management capabilities and identifying potential career pathway opportunities.
