About The Position

The Materials and Process Engineering (M&PE) Department, which functions within the Hardware Engineering Discipline team, is seeking a Section Leader to lead Non-Destructive Testing section. As a Section Lead, the ideal candidate will be accountable managing the Non-Destructive Testing efforts for Raytheon Tucson and Andover locations to include, coordinating support of programs for both onsite and offsite needs, coordinating personnel to support Supplier Audits, and ensuring compliance to industry specification of the NDT Program.

Requirements

  • A University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years experience
  • Experience in NAS 410 Level 3 Certification (i.e. Ultrasonic, Radiography, Magnetic Particle and Penetrant Testing Methods.)
  • Experience in using multiple Nondestructive Test Methods (i.e. Digital Radiography, Film Radiography, Ultrasonic Testing (Contact/Immersion/CSAM) techniques)
  • Experience in military applications or environments
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • Active and existing security clearance required after day 1

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering. ABET is the preferred, although not required.
  • Fifteen (15) years of Non-Destructive Testing experience to include Ultrasonic, Radiographic, Penetrant, Magnetic Particle inspection methods.
  • Working knowledge or experience with military program design and development, and production
  • Working experience with PDM, assembly drawings, material specifications and military specifications
  • Extensive experience in program system processes related to Risk Boards and Engineering Review Boards
  • Experience with Failure Review Boards
  • Demonstrated team player, with excellent collaboration and mentoring skills
  • Experience identifying resource needs and implementing growth initiatives to drive new revenue streams
  • Must be able to work in a stressful, on-demand environment and be able to communicate under duress in a non-confrontational, effective manner.
  • Experience interpreting and developing NDT Procedures and Technique sheets.
  • Strong background in Nondestructive Inspection of Aerospace products to include but not limited to: Composites, Castings, Welds, Braze Joints, Energetics, Microcircuits, Computer Card Assemblies etc.
  • NAS 410 Level 3 Certification in Ultrasonic Contact /Immersion / C SAM / Acoustic Microscopy Testing, Radiographic Film / Filmless Testing Fluorescent / Visible dye Penetrant Testing, Magnetic particle Wet / Dry Testing, & Visual / Weld inspections.
  • Desire and ability to work as a team member is essential.
  • Ability to audit and perform quality control functions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently.
  • Excellent documentation and technical writing skills (Office suite).
  • Working knowledge of Military, Aerospace, Microcircuits, Commercial Materials and Process Specifications to include but not limited to: ASTM E1742, ASTM E2698, AMS2175, ASTM E1444, ASTM E1417, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Perform direct line management activities and provide leadership for approximately 15-20 engineers within this multi-disciplined group at multiple locations across the Continental US.
  • These activities include technical oversight of NDT support for the programs, coordinating daily support for requestor needs, coordinating with counterparts at other Raytheon locations to drive alignment of NDT Processes.
  • Perform individual contributor workload in the leader’s subject matter discipline.
  • Team with the Department Leader in the execution of Materials and Process Engineering, Hardware Engineering Discipline and Raytheon Engineering goals.
  • Ensure two-way communication for section members; serve as the day-to-day liaison to the programs concerning employee job assignments, performance, and recognition.
  • Responsibilities also include coordinating program staffing needs and reductions, optimizing resource utilization, and interviewing applicants.
  • Provide oversight to ensure the accuracy of technical output of each assignment based on data and analyses.
  • Interface with other organizations across the Raytheon Enterprise such as Mission Assurance & Quality, Operations, Reliability, and Supply Chain.
