About The Position

Provide Section 8 and tenancy administration support to property management at LLC and Trust developments. This role involves monitoring TSAP selections, assisting with the processing of Section 8 rentals, and troubleshooting cases to resolve issues such as IT glitches, migration errors, and head of household composition changes. The position also requires monitoring compliance with annual recertification submissions, legal referrals, and other tenancy administration and Section 8 landlord functions, working with development staff and residents to promote compliance and avoid loss of subsidy. The liaison will float between assigned developments and Central Office, build relationships with development teams, and proactively monitor upcoming termination of subsidy cases. Additionally, the role may involve deploying as a supplemental property resource for discrete projects in special circumstances.

Requirements

  • Permanent civil service status in the title of Housing Assistant to be considered.
  • For NYCHA employees: must have served a period of one year at current location and in current title and level (if applicable) for transfer, promotional, title or level change opportunities.
  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college; or
  • An associate degree or sixty semester credits from an accredited college and one year of satisfactory full-time experience in housing management at a development or developments containing at least 150 apartments, performing any one or a combination of the following duties: interviewing applicants; determining eligibility; gathering and evaluating information to resolve complaints; collecting rents; and/or resolving tenant-related problems; or
  • A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent, and three years of satisfactory full-time experience as described in “1” above; or
  • A satisfactory equivalent combination of education and experience as described in "1" or "2" above. Undergraduate college credit may be substituted for experience on the basis of 30 semester credits from an accredited college for one year of satisfactory full-time experience. However, all candidates must have a four-year high school diploma, or its educational equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Deploy as a supplemental property resource for discrete projects when assigned (special circumstances only).
