About The Position

This position is responsible for scheduling outpatient appointments, obtaining and verifying insurance and billing information, providing phone reception, creating and managing chart notes, registering patient accounts, and performing front desk reception duties. The role requires accuracy in processing insurance information and maintaining records according to regulatory requirements like HIPAA. The secretary will also support a collaborative environment and perform other assigned duties.

Responsibilities

  • Schedules outpatient appointments with scheduling tools and per department protocol.
  • Obtains and verifies insurance and billing information.
  • Accurately processes information for all insurance types and obtains necessary information for unfamiliar insurance types.
  • Provides phone reception utilizing excellent service excellence techniques.
  • Creates, manages, and scans chart notes to assist clinicians with patient care and following regulatory requirements to maintain records (e.g., HIPAA).
  • Registers patient accounts and audits/monitors information for accuracy and to ensure proper billing.
  • Provides front desk reception duties, involving leadership when a situation has the potential to escalate or to receive recognition for staff.
  • Performs all job functions in a timely, efficient, and effective manner as part of a team.
  • Supports a collaborative and cooperative environment to facilitate mutual respect and effective interpersonal relations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
