About The Position

Provides clerical support to the Emergency Department or unit. Performs general clerical and receptionist duties, including preparing routine correspondence and reports, handling incoming and outgoing mail, maintaining files and record systems, and performing basic computer applications such as word processing and spreadsheets. May assist with maintaining Kronos and staff scheduling. Manages the multi-line phone system, answers and forwards calls, and schedules patients via phone or in-person. Assists with scheduling follow-up and rescheduled appointments, and completes confirmation calls for new patients. Resolves items in the work queue daily, scans outside records to medical charts, and maintains old medical records. Understands not to handle medications and to alert a licensed employee if contact occurs.

Requirements

  • Completion of or in pursuit of high school diploma (or Equivalent Certificate from an accredited program)
  • Cheyenne Regional AHA RQI within 14 calendar days of start date (for Emergency Department)
  • Cheyenne Regional AHA RQI within 14 calendar days of start date (for Wyoming PACE)
  • One year of experience working with geriatric population (for Wyoming PACE)

Responsibilities

  • Performs clerical tasks required in preparation of routine correspondence and reports.
  • Assists with projects under general supervision.
  • Handles incoming and outgoing mail.
  • Maintains files and record systems.
  • Performs basic computer applications including word processing and spreadsheets.
  • May assist to maintain Kronos for the department and staff scheduling for the department.
  • General management of the multi-line phone system.
  • Answers all incoming calls and forwards them and/or mailbox messages to the appropriate person.
  • Schedules patients via phone or in person.
  • Assists with scheduling follow-up appointments and rescheduling cancelled appointments.
  • Completes confirmation calls for upcoming appointments for new patients.
  • Resolves items in the work queue daily; scan outside records to medical chart; maintain old medical records.
