About The Position

Performs secretarial, clerical, receptionist and administrative duties for all sections of Cardiopulmonary Services. Performs registration and scheduling of patients for testing in all sections, verifying insurance, ordering drugs and supplies, performing and/or verifying patient charges and maintaining the CPS department filing system. Receipt, controls and documents payments for services rendered. Responsible for medical record maintenance, security and confidentiality. Assists the department Manager with various reports including payroll and the physicians’ monthly test “over read” professional fee payment. Will be trained to perform certain clinical duties such as assisting physicians with patient preparation for testing (i.e., vital signs, anthropometric data collection, and screening for Medicare medical necessity), performing EKGs, and Extended Cardiac Monitoring placement.

Requirements

  • High school graduate with post high school secretarial skills.
  • Proficient in computer applications; word processing and spreadsheet programs.
  • BCLS certification within 90 days of employment.
  • Incumbent will be required to demonstrate competence in the performance of duties specific to the age groups of patients to whom s/he will be assigned.
  • A minimum of two years of previous secretarial experience.

Nice To Haves

  • AA degree in secretarial science.
  • Ability to perform Peripheral Vascular studies and EEGs.
  • RCT Registry.
  • Certified Cardiology Technician (CCT) or eligible, performing EKG’s, and Stress Testing.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance and billing procedures.
