About The Position

Integrity Educational Services is seeking a Secondary Teacher certified in Mathematics, Integrated Science, English, or Chemistry & Biology to serve Lighthouse Academy Eagle Village. This role involves teaching students in residential and day treatment programs who have complex mental health and behavior needs. The teacher will provide academic instruction aligned with the program's therapeutic focus, aiming to help students develop academic and SEL skills for success in traditional school settings and life. The teacher is accountable to the Principal and works as part of a school team, including other teachers, support staff, social workers, and administrators. The role requires subscribing to the vision, mission, and values of Integrity Educational Services and the applicable academy.

Requirements

Teaching degree from an accredited college or university.
Certification required.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to write simple correspondence.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to students, parents, and other employees of the organization.
Ability to do simple computations, calculate percentages, and use a calculator.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Ability to apply verbal de-escalation skills as part of crisis intervention.
Knowledge of Google and/or Microsoft applications and/or willingness to learn needed computer skills specific to this position.
Valid Michigan teaching certification with a core subject 6-12 BA, EX, DI, or DA and DC endorsements required.
Must meet highly qualified status according to the Michigan Department of Education for the subjects being taught.
Must participate in and complete annual training, Professional Development, and various other training as deemed appropriate for position.
Must pass criminal history records search, physical and drug screen, if required.
Regularly required to communicate and exchange information.
Frequently required to walk and move about within the school.
Frequently required to sit, use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms, talk or hear.
Will occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
1 year of experience with at-risk youth (Required).
1 year of k-12 experience (Required).

Experience working with emotionally/behaviorally impaired adolescents is preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide appropriate educational experiences to meet the needs of youth enrolled in all programs.
Achieve outstanding student achievement results in a short amount of time and commit to the relentless pursuit of increasing student learning.
Leverage the student support network to ensure students’ social, emotional, nutritional, and health needs are addressed.
Motivate students and influence their behaviors through building meaningful, caring relationships following the PBIS framework, and utilizing protocols and classroom routines.
Collaboratively create and execute clear, logical instructional plans that produce strong results in student learning.
Align curriculum, instruction, and assessments in a tiered system of instructional strategies within the classroom to meet the needs of all students.
Collect and analyze student data.
Design and utilize formative assessments to modify and adjust instruction on a daily basis.
Create and thrive in a professional environment of mutual respect, teamwork, and accountability.
Seek out knowledgeable peers, coaches, or administrators for instructional support.
Participate in assigned PLC groups.
Serve as a mentor teacher, if requested.
Successfully engage at-risk youth.
Meet student grading and attendance requirements.
Demonstrate cultural awareness and sensitivity.
Meet attendance and timeliness requirements.
Assist with coverage of the eating area during breakfast and lunch, if applicable.
Assist with coverage during arrival, passing time, and dismissal.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Prioritize student-learning needs over customs, routines, and established relationships that can stand in the way of necessary change.
Achieve results by facilitating appropriate initiatives informed by data.
Reflect and act on lessons learned to skillfully challenge the status quo.
