About The Position
The R3STEM Mentor coaches R3STEM Teaching Fellows and observes at least one time each during the Fall and Spring semesters. The R3STEM Mentor will provide mentoring to develop the dispositions, knowledge and skills required of novice teachers and conduct meetings with teachers and district personnel as needed.
Requirements
- Master's in Mathematics, Science, and/or Engineering.
- Understands content specific curriculum.
- Mentor is able to assist mentees in processing stress and to help them grow professionally.
- Mentors are active listeners and are able to offer constructive feedback.
- Mentors have interpersonal strengths that support mentees emotionally, and allow mentees to develop confidence.
- Communicating with others to exchange information.
- Lifting and moving objects up to 20 pounds.
Nice To Haves
- Ph.D. in Mathematics, Science, Engineering and/or Curriculum and Instruction.
- Experience as a secondary Mathematics, Science, and/or Engineering Teacher.
Responsibilities
- Observes R3STEM Teaching Fellows at least once during the Fall and Spring semester.
- Mentors R3STEM Teaching Fellows to develop dispositions, knowledge and skills required of novice teachers.
- Mentor meets with teachers and district personnel as needed.
