About The Position

This position is for a Secondary Social Studies Teacher and Coach for the 2026-2027 School Year. The role involves implementing the educational program for students, diagnosing their achievement levels, planning and directing learning activities, and motivating students to learn. The teacher will create and maintain a positive learning atmosphere, evaluate student progress, and assist with student counseling for academic, personal, social, and career improvement. Responsibilities also include implementing school/district curricular goals, ensuring substitutes have necessary information, preparing and following lesson plans, and assisting in curriculum development and needs assessment for instructional materials and equipment. The teacher will also communicate with parents, supervise students in various school areas, enforce school regulations, participate in in-service programs, maintain records, check attendance, sponsor clubs, and adhere to district policies.

  • Valid Arkansas teaching certificate in Social Studies

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose the achievement level of each student.
  • Plan, prescribe, and direct the learning activities of students.
  • Motivate students to learn.
  • Create and maintain an atmosphere conducive to learning in both appearance of instructional station and activities therein.
  • Evaluate progress of students and inform students thereof on a continuous basis.
  • Assist with the counseling of students for their academic, personal, social, and career improvement.
  • Implement school or district curricular goals.
  • Ensure that substitutes will have all information necessary for effective instruction.
  • Prepare and follow effective lesson plans.
  • Assist in the development of school and district curriculums.
  • Assist in assessing school and district needs for instructional materials and equipment.
  • Prepare for principal, lists of material and equipment needs for instructional assignment.
  • Inform students of school or district regulations that are pertinent to them.
  • Confer with parents on students' progress and attitudes.
  • Supervise students in corridors, in restrooms, in lunchrooms, on school grounds, etc. in accordance with Board policy. Such supervision that is on an assigned basis should be equitably distributed.
  • Assist in the enforcement of school regulations at all times.
  • Participate in all prescribed in-service programs.
  • Maintain, and make reports on, necessary records for pupil accounting, pupil progress, material and equipment inventories, collection of money, etc.
  • Check attendance and report absences and tardies.
  • Sponsor clubs and activities on an equitable basis.
  • Take responsibility for issued materials and equipment.
  • Know Board of Education policies, Desegregation Plan, district and school guidelines and regulations, and adhere to the same.
  • Supervise early and late bus students on an equitable assigned basis.
  • Attend faculty meetings.
  • Participate in professional activities that are related to the subject area assignment.
  • Keep informed of the latest curriculum developments.
  • Other duties as assigned.
