About The Position

The Secondary Packaging Senior Manager is responsible for ensuring production lines run efficiently to meet production goals and assists the Director of Operations with planning and coordinating all packaging operations. This role focuses on areas of improvement, implementing plans to decrease changeover times and increase machinery output, and maintaining the cleanliness of the work area. The manager also performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years manufacturing / packaging work experience required.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a leadership role.
  • Detail oriented, ability to work independently as a self-starter, dependable and ability to supervise and motivate up to 250 employees.
  • The ability and willingness to change direction and focus to meet shifting organizational and business demands.
  • The ability to manage a multitude of resources and to be accurate and current with data and information.
  • The ability to effectively manage one self, demonstrates integrity, be productive under pressure, and achieve development goals.
  • The ability to create new products and processes that add value to the business, by generating new ideas and applying creative and analytical approaches.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Health Policy or Administration, or related field preferred or equivalent work experience
  • Previous supervisory training preferred

Responsibilities

  • Keeping production lines running efficiently to meet production goals.
  • Assisting with additional work duties or responsibilities as evident or required.
  • Assisting Director of Operations with planning and coordinating all packaging operations.
  • Working with the Operations Manager and Director to focus on areas of improvement.
  • Implementing a plan to decrease the changeover times while increasing the overall output of the machinery.
  • Focusing on cleanliness of the area and assigning crews to maintain the progress.
  • Verifying inventory as it relates to forecasting, planning, procuring and replenishing process.
  • Managing day-to-day operation workload and prioritizing the workload to maintain production needs.
  • Providing guidance or mentorship to other team members whenever is required.
  • Scheduling the packaging process and departmental activities relating to material, employee, and equipment availability.
  • Monitoring packaging process, workflow, and schedules to ensure on-time completion of lot / batch.
  • Creating a WIPS packaging configuration for each lot on the secondary packaging schedule.
  • Ensuring all secondary packaging procedures and forms are accurate and up to date.
  • Implementing changes/ new procedures when necessary.
  • Ensuring all employees have the proper training and means to perform their job requirements.
  • Assisting packaging trainer in the development of new employee trainings.
  • Presenting and explaining new packaging / logistics strategies to Director of Operations.
  • Analyzing, developing, determining and implementing policies, procedures and programs.
  • Setting packaging goals within the department and reporting findings and recommendations to Director of secondary packaging.
  • Performing administrative duties to include personnel roster, personnel scheduling, and monitoring the production line.
