About The Position

Seeking production workers who will perform a variety of tasks, including but not limited to operating saws, benders, and other production equipment to meet customer requirements as specified by work order, blueprints and diagrams of the part. Under general supervision, performs a broad range of production tasks including machine operation, material processing, equipment setup, quality checks, and documentation. This master role integrates responsibilities from both locations to outline a comprehensive, unified Secondary Operator position. Earning potential: Starting at $22.00/hr. and goes up to $24.75/hr. (3yr rate) plus shift premium when applicable. Hours/Shifts: 1st shift 7:00AM - 3:30PM Monday to Friday

Requirements

  • One to three months of related experience or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Must pass math test prior to starting.

Nice To Haves

  • Three to six months+ experience with performing quality checks is preferred.
  • Crane experience is preferred for Indiana Automotive roles.
  • Heat treat experience is preferred for Indiana Automotive roles.
  • Familiarity with MIG welding, blueprint reading, and problem-solving skills are essential.
  • May be required to wear protective gloves due to heat exposure.

Responsibilities

  • Operate production equipment includes saws, benders, presses, deburring tools, buffing stations, and other machinery.
  • Perform setup of tools, dies, jigs, and equipment as required; make basic adjustments to machinery.
  • Follow all verbal and written work instructions including work orders, routers, travelers, blueprints, and diagrams.
  • Use manufacturing software (Global Shop / labor tracking system) to produce tickets, labels, and record data.
  • Conduct quality checks using appropriate measuring tools; ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Maintain proper product traceability through accurate documentation.
  • Load and unload parts from lines or machines; operate forklifts or cranes when trained and authorized.
  • Assist other operators and support team-based workflow.
  • Maintain clean and safe work areas; follow OSHA, PPE, and company safety requirements.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement activities and support process optimization.
  • Utilize the HMI screen to make process adjustments as needed.
  • Perform plasma cutting, bending, and welding operations on metal components as required by production specifications, ensuring precision and quality standards are consistently met.
  • Operate and monitor robotic welding systems to perform automated welding tasks. Responsibilities include setting up and maintaining robotic welding equipment, ensuring precise welding quality, troubleshooting issues, and making adjustments via HMI screens.
  • Manually paint designated areas using a brush to ensure product completion and quality finish.
  • Accurately apply labels to products in accordance with specifications.
  • Insert liners into products as required by production standards.
  • Responsible for accurately measuring the rebound of steel shot during the shot peening process to ensure optimal equipment performance and part quality. This includes using appropriate measurement tools, analyzing data, and making necessary adjustments to maintain process specifications.
  • Utilize the “Visual Components” program to operate and program plasma cutting and welding processes, following procedures similar to those used with CNC laser systems. Responsibilities include creating and modifying programs to support production requirements, ensuring accurate and efficient machine operation, and maintaining high quality and safety standards throughout the process.
  • Responsible for safely removing and installing electric heat treat coils as part of routine maintenance or when required by production schedules. Ensures proper handling and installation techniques are followed to maintain equipment efficiency and prevent downtime.
  • Works closely with the quality team to verify the effectiveness of coil changes and adheres to all safety protocols during the process.
