About The Position

The Secondary Math Teacher is responsible for providing engaging, standards-based mathematics instruction that promotes critical thinking, problem-solving, and mathematical reasoning. The teacher will create a positive learning environment that supports student achievement while preparing students for college, careers, and lifelong learning. The teacher will collaborate with colleagues, families, and school staff to ensure student success.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a related field
  • Valid North Carolina teaching license in Mathematics (or eligibility to obtain licensure)
  • Knowledge of the North Carolina Standard Course of Study for Mathematics
  • Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues
  • Commitment to continuous professional growth and student achievement

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study for Mathematics
  • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of students
  • Integrate technology and real-world applications to enhance mathematical understanding
  • Assess student progress using formative and summative assessments and adjust instruction accordingly
  • Foster a classroom environment that promotes respect, collaboration, and academic excellence
  • Encourage critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical reasoning skills
  • Differentiate instruction to support students with diverse learning needs
  • Monitor student progress and provide timely feedback to students and families
  • Establish and maintain effective classroom procedures and expectations
  • Promote positive student behavior through consistent classroom management practices
  • Ensure a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
  • Collaborate with administrators, counselors, teachers, and support staff to promote student success
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional learning communities, and required professional development
  • Maintain accurate student records, grades, and attendance in accordance with district policies
  • Support school initiatives and participate in school-wide activities as appropriate
  • Serve on committees or assist with extracurricular activities when assigned
  • Uphold district policies and maintain professional and ethical standards
