About The Position

The Accelerated Schools (TAS) is seeking a Secondary Math Teacher to join their team. Located south of Downtown Los Angeles, TAS serves over 1,700 TK-12 students with a mission to prepare them for success in college, career, and life. The school utilizes an instructional approach that blends innovation, equity, and compassion, incorporating research-based practices like project-based learning, student choice, self-direction, and mentoring. Behavior support is managed through Restorative Practices and Circles. TAS is committed to educational equity by creating culturally responsive practices and disrupting inequitable systems. The Secondary Math Teacher will report to the Principal/Administrator and is responsible for planning and delivering standards-aligned instruction, fostering a safe and inclusive learning environment, collaborating with colleagues, engaging in professional learning, and communicating with families.

Requirements

  • California Single Subject Mathematics teaching credential or hold a University Intern Credential, Provisional Internship Permit, or Short Term Staff Permit in the required content w/English Learner Authorization.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver rigorous, standards-aligned instruction using a variety of strategies, resources, and assessments to meet diverse student needs.
  • Promote critical thinking, autonomy, and engagement in students.
  • Establish a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment by implementing Positive Behavior Supports, Restorative Practices, school-wide expectations, and appropriate de-escalation strategies.
  • Ensure students’ rights are respected.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, including teachers, administrators, and instructional coaches.
  • Engage in ongoing professional learning through regular professional development and collaboration, including grade-level, department, and PLC meetings.
  • Communicate regularly with families through multiple means, including progress reports, conferences, family events, and phone calls.
  • Complete other duties as directed by school administrators.
  • Design and administer assessments, and use assessment data to refine curricula and inform instruction and intervention.
  • Reinforce school-wide rules, policies, and expectations in and outside of the classroom.
  • Ensure the rights of all students are observed and protected through the use of appropriate and respectful communication, proper de-escalation techniques, and the use of nonviolent crisis intervention strategies when required.

  • Annual $10,000 retention bonus
  • Acceptance of up to 35 years of prior years of experience where the employee worked full-time as a certificated employee for a minimum of 75% of the school year.
