About The Position

The Secondary Market Specialist is primarily responsible for administering the secondary market operation, including both the buying and selling of mortgages in connection with bank goals. This role involves daily monitoring of the secondary market workflow to ensure accurate and timely receipt of closed loans and their delivery to Secondary Market investors. The specialist will administer all secondary market duties that aid in selling and purchasing loans, log information related to loan sales and purchases, and comply with secondary market laws. Additionally, they will stay informed about changes in investor requirements and technology updates, acting as a liaison for issues with business partners. The role also includes developing or recommending methods to improve sales effectiveness and maintaining knowledge of the concepts, practices, and procedures for delivering mortgage loans to various investors.

Requirements

  • Baccalaureate degree in business, finance, or a related field; extensive experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • 2+ years experience in Secondary Markets or a related field of lending or financing
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to communicate clearly, and demonstrate sound judgment.
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational analytical and oral/written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively navigate in various situations and highly complex environments and develop creative solutions
  • Must exercise discretion and sound judgment and be able to work well independently
  • Ability to work efficiently with a high level of attention to finer details
  • Follow-through and multi-tasking capabilities is a must
  • Ability to work effectively under aggressive deadlines required
  • Proficient in MS Office w/an emphasis on Excel
  • Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines
  • Ability to operate related equipment to perform the essential job functions
  • Ability to read and interpret a document if required to perform the essential job functions

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to travel if required to perform the essential job functions
  • Ability to lift/move/carry approximately 20 pounds if required to perform the essential job functions. If the employee is unable to lift/move/carry this weight and can be accommodated without causing the department/division an “undue hardship” then the employee must be accommodated; hence omitting lifting/moving/carrying as a physical requirement.
