Requirements

  • High school diploma required.
  • Minimum of five years of progressively responsible mortgage processing, underwriting, or mortgage operations experience, including advanced experience with conventional, government, portfolio, and equity loan products.
  • Demonstrated experience working with secondary market investors, investor delivery requirements, mortgage insurance providers, and agency guidelines including Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, USDA, VA, and other third-party investors.
  • Advanced knowledge of mortgage lending regulations including TRID, RESPA, HMDA, ECOA and other applicable compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency with mortgage origination/processing systems; Loan Product Advisor or equivalent underwriting software (AUS) and Microsoft Office products.
  • Position requires the ability to function independently while exercising sound judgment of lending policies and procedures.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple pipelines simultaneously and respond to changing deadlines and priorities.
  • This position requires Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry (NMLS) registration under the SAFE Act of 2008. Must be able to be registered as a Mortgage Loan Originator.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or related field preferred, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience with Encompass, FICS Loan Producer and MeridianLink Consumer preferred.
  • Experience with direct customer service in a financial institution preferred.
  • Ability to speak and understand multiple languages a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manages communications with members and potential members during the loan process including providing updates and addressing inquiries.
  • Educates members on various mortgage products and the application process.
  • Actively uses available resources to enhance the member experience.
  • Reviews and processes complex mortgage transactions including conventional, FHA, USDA, VA, portfolio and equity products with minimal supervision.
  • Serves as an escalation point for loan scenarios, documentation exceptions, and investor guideline interpretation.
  • Performs comprehensive pre-closing and post-closing quality reviews to ensure adherence to investor and regulatory standards.
  • Maintains an advanced working knowledge of secondary market requirements, including agency, investor, mortgage insurance and Credit Union guidelines for eligibility, documentation, underwriting, and delivery.
  • Ensures compliance with investor overlays, automated underwriting findings, and quality control standards for secondary market execution.
  • Assists management with implementation of regulatory changes, investor updates, and process improvements affecting mortgage operations.
