About The Position

San Marcos Academy is seeking a dedicated, passionate full-time history teacher for the 2026–2027 school year. The teacher will teach history classes to Middle School (8th grade) and Upper School (9th–12th grade) students, inspiring creativity and fostering a love for history. The position starts in October 2026. Compensation is determined by experience.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in History or Education.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong classroom management skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with students and staff.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to inspire and motivate students.

Nice To Haves

• Advanced Placement certification preferred.
• Previous teaching experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement engaging, age-appropriate lesson plans for Middle and Upper School history classes.
• Teach historical concepts, events, and perspectives using a variety of instructional strategies and primary sources.
• Foster critical thinking, discussion, and analysis of historical events and their impact on the modern world.
• Assess student understanding through formative and summative evaluations and provide timely, constructive feedback.
• Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines to support cross-curricular initiatives and school-wide learning goals.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.
