About The Position

The Accelerated Schools (TAS) is seeking a Secondary English Teacher for Wallis Annenberg High School in Los Angeles, CA. TAS is a network of tuition-free public charter schools serving over 1,700 TK-12 students, dedicated to preparing them for success in college, career, and life. The school's approach emphasizes innovation, equity, and compassion, empowering students to take ownership of their learning. The instructional model includes project-based learning, student choice and voice, self-direction, and mentoring, with students setting and monitoring their academic and personal goals. Behavior support is managed through Restorative Practices and Circles, focusing on building community and learning from mistakes. Requirements

California Single Subject English teaching credential, or a University Intern Credential, Provisional Internship Permit, or Short Term Staff Permit in the required content area.
Must hold English Learner Authorization (ELA1 or CLAD).

Responsibilities

Plan and deliver rigorous, standards-aligned instruction using a variety of strategies, resources, and assessments to meet diverse student needs and promote critical thinking, autonomy, and engagement.
Establish a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment by implementing Positive Behavior Supports, Restorative Practices, school-wide expectations, and appropriate de-escalation strategies while ensuring students’ rights are respected.
Collaborate with colleagues, engage in ongoing professional learning, communicate regularly with families, and complete additional duties as assigned by school administrators.
Plan rigorous, engaging instruction aligned to the school’s instructional model and driven by applicable standards.
Incorporate a variety of strategies and resources to respond to students’ diverse needs and interests, including prescribed educational software and curriculum.
Facilitate learning experiences that promote autonomy, interaction, and student choice.
Engage students in problem solving, critical thinking, and meaning-making.
Design and administer assessments, and use assessment data to refine curricula and inform instruction and intervention.
Implement Positive Behavior Support strategies and Restorative Practices to develop a safe and nurturing classroom community.
Reinforce school-wide rules, policies, and expectations in and outside of the classroom.
Ensure the rights of all students are observed and protected through the use of appropriate and respectful communication, proper de-escalation techniques, and nonviolent crisis intervention strategies when required.
Communicate frequently with students’ families through multiple means, including progress reports, conferences, family events, and phone calls.
Collaborate with colleagues, including teachers, administrators, and instructional coaches.
Engage in ongoing learning through regular professional development and collaboration, including grade-level, department, and PLC meetings.
Produce weekly lesson plans to share with administrators and parents.
Complete other duties as directed by school administrators.
