About The Position

South Carolina Bridge Connections Academy (SCBCA) is a tuition-free, full-time alternative education campus serving students aged 16-21 across South Carolina in grades 9-12. SCBCA is authorized by the Charter Institute of Erskine and operated by Low Country Connections Academy. Connections Academy, a division of Connections Education, is accredited by Cognia. This is a full-time, remote position where certified teachers manage instructional programs, consult with learning coaches and students, and ensure successful completion of the academic program using various curriculum and communication tools.

Requirements

Certified to teach Secondary Electives in South Carolina (appropriate to grade level responsibilities)
Must reside in South Carolina
Strong technology skills (especially with MS Office programs and Google Suite)
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
Highly organized and punctual
Customer focused approach
High degree of flexibility
Demonstrated ability to work well in a fast-paced environment
Team player track record
Willingness to travel on occasion for school and state testing events (may require occasional overnight travel)
Ability to work remotely, if necessary
Ability to work some occasional evening hours, as needed to support some families
Must be able to use a personal electronic device and an email address for two-step authentication

Responsibilities

Support the instructional program with asynchronous web conferencing sessions and synchronous instruction.
Complete all grading, create progress reports, and conduct parent conferences in a timely manner.
Communicate with parents, students, and other teachers regularly to develop and update Personal Learning Plans and schedules, provide feedback on student work, suggest instructional approaches and strategies, monitor assignment completion, and coach special projects.
Develop a general knowledge of the entire program’s K-12 curriculum and detailed knowledge of the grades for which responsible.
Support students and parents with alternate strategies and provide additional assistance with daily assignments and projects.
Keep student records and data up-to-date, including online student and family information, attendance accounting, and logging of all student and parent contacts.
Consult with team members and staff learning specialists to develop alternate enrichment activities and modifications to students’ programs to increase student understanding.
Devise and implement virtual methods of creating and maintaining a “school community”.
Participate in the organization and administration of State Testing, as directed.
Participate in student recruiting sessions and other marketing efforts that require teacher representation.
Attend field trips and other community activities implemented for families.
Other duties as assigned.
