Sapulpa Public Schools seeks a passionate, energetic team player to work with our students as a secondary counselor. This role involves assisting students with course selection, providing occupational and post-secondary information, and helping students evaluate their aptitudes and abilities. The counselor will work with students to resolve educational handicaps, register new students, and strive to prevent students from dropping out. Key responsibilities include helping students evaluate career interests, providing individual counseling for personal growth and adjustment, planning guidance field trips, and guiding student participation in school and community activities. The counselor will also maintain student records, supervise the preparation of applications, make recommendations for college admissions and scholarships, and meet with parents to discuss enrollment, grades, and career paths. Additionally, the role involves assisting with new faculty orientation, providing in-service training for teachers, interpreting the school's objectives and guidance program to the community, arranging summer school work, collaborating with the school leadership team, and coordinating district and state testing. The counselor will perform credit checks, gather information for Special Services, network with other counselors, help coordinate crisis intervention, and perform other related duties as directed.
