About The Position

The Secondary Assistant Principal will support the Principal in overseeing the development and implementation of high-quality local assessments to meet state requirements and track student progress on state standards. This role involves assisting with the district’s assessment program, enforcing guidelines for discipline and conduct, and developing policies related to student behavior and attendance. The Assistant Principal will also oversee special education initial referrals, communicate relevant policies to staff and parents, and collaborate with other district personnel to enhance educational programs. Additionally, the position involves working with faculty on classroom discipline and organization, developing safety procedures, and assisting in curriculum development to meet diverse student needs. The role includes preparing various reports, mentoring staff, establishing a positive learning climate, and supervising/evaluating personnel. The Assistant Principal will also assist in supervising athletics, extracurricular activities, and special events, ensuring student welfare during school hours, and cooperating with the principal in building and grounds management. Maintaining professional relationships, emotional control under stress, and adherence to regulations are also key aspects of this position.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree required
  • Relevant experience as a classroom teacher required

Responsibilities

  • Assists overseeing the development and implementation of high quality local assessments to meet state requirements and track student progress on state standards.
  • Assist with developing and administering the district’s assessment program.
  • Enforces guidelines to maintain proper discipline and conduct.
  • Assist with developing and administering policies regarding discipline, conduct, and attendance.
  • Oversees special education initial referrals and communicating procedures/policies for initial referrals to staff and parents
  • Communicates relevant policies and procedures with regard to student discipline, conduct, and attendance to students, staff, and parents.
  • Collaborates with other district personnel in developing and implementing quality educational programs.
  • Works with and assists faculty in the development of effective classroom discipline and organization.
  • Develops procedures designed to enhance the safety of students and staff and to promote the security of property and equipment.
  • Maintains an effective and safe school environment.
  • Ability to implement emergency evacuations and lock-downs effectively.
  • Assist in managing curriculum development to meet the needs of all students.
  • Assists with preparing required reports and paperwork such as discipline reports, suspension reports, expulsion paperwork, discrimination complaints, injury reports, parent communications, and other paperwork as assigned.
  • Preparation of appropriate handbooks.
  • Mentors staff.
  • Establishes and maintains an effective learning climate in the building.
  • Assists with designing and implementing new programs, based on current research based practices, to meet the specific needs of the school and its students.
  • Supervises and evaluates certified and classified personnel.
  • Works as a team member to meet the system-wide needs of the district.
  • Assists in supervision of all athletics, extra curricular, and special events.
  • Holds the responsibility for the welfare of all students during school hours.
  • Supervise the operation and maintenance of the buildings and grounds in cooperation with the principal.
  • Maintains prompt and regular attendance and demonstrates the ability to maintain positive professional working relationships with others
