About The Position

The Second Cook supports the Kitchen Manager in maintaining a positive and welcoming kitchen environment. The role prepares, serves, and cleans up meals while ensuring compliance with Minnesota Department of Education, U.S. Department of Agriculture, and school policies and procedures. When the Kitchen Manager is absent, the Second Cook fulfills the manager’s job duties.

This is a 186-day position scheduled Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at 0.8125 FTE (32.5 hours per week). The position has an immediate start date and pays $20.64–$21.12 per hour. The district notes that this role may be combined with other benefits-eligible district positions to reach full-time benefits eligibility.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Obtain SNA Level 3 Certification within one year of hire.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift up to 40 pounds.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to work with a diverse group of people.
• Strong communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• Previous food service experience preferred.
