About The Position

The second cook position primarily works in student dining helping to provide approximately 5000 meals per day to the students, faculty, staff, and guests of the college who dine in Commons. They are also called upon to prepare items for catered events as needed.

Requirements

  • Must have or be able to pass Serve Safe certification.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in an institutional or high volume full service food operation required with a demonstrated forward professional progression.
  • Commitment to equity and inclusion, and serving the needs of a culturally and educationally diverse community.
  • Ability to establish rapport quickly with faculty, students, staff and outside clients staying composed and friendly.
  • Commitment to customer service.
  • Exemplary organizational and time management skills are a must.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare student meals and execute catering for special events by strictly following standardized recipes.
  • Maintain accurate production records and consistently uphold the highest sanitation standards.
  • Ensure that the highest sanitation standards are consistently maintained across the operation. This involves maintaining detailed and accurate production records to ensure proper oversight and compliance.
  • Actively participate in all scheduled meetings (Dining, Conferences, Campus Events town meetings, sector, and specially called meetings).
  • Assist in other areas of the operation as needed.
  • Champion exceptional customer service, consistently aiming for the highest standards in every interaction.
  • Actively cultivate a positive, inclusive workplace by practicing open, two-way communication and demonstrating a deep respect for all forms of diversity.
  • Forge robust collaborative partnerships with colleagues across the entire Dining department and the broader university community.
  • Be a flexible, supportive team member, readily assisting in other operational areas and executing all assigned duties with professionalism.
  • Ensure adherence to sound environmental practices, including composting, recycling, and waste reduction.
  • Maintain a high level of safety awareness and ensure all injuries are reported within 24 hours.
