The second cook assists in the preparation of meals each day for the crew. This role involves supporting the preparation and cooking of breakfast, and assisting with lunch and dinner under the guidance of the Steward. Responsibilities include preparing salads, vegetables, fruits, and desserts, as well as baking bread and cookies. The position also entails receiving and properly storing grocery supplies, and maintaining inventories and stock rotation for all food items in freezers, refrigerators, and dry storage areas. Additionally, the second cook is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of the galley and dining areas, managing vessel linen (storage, vendor cleaning, and issuance), and performing other assigned maintenance and housekeeping tasks.
