About The Position

External Reporting at Cardinal Health oversees accounting, tax, financial plans and policies, establishes and maintains fiscal controls, prepares and interprets financial reports, oversees financial systems, and safeguards the organization's assets. SEC Reporting specifically is responsible for the preparation and review of financial information for external release, as well as the research, interpretation, and communication of complex accounting matters. This role requires strong project management capabilities, technical accounting knowledge, stakeholder management skills, and the ability to influence across functions.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree preferred in related field, or equivalent work, preferred
  • 3+ years of public or corporate accounting experience, preferred
  • CPA preferred
  • Applies working knowledge in the application of concepts, principles, and technical capabilities to perform varied tasks
  • Works on projects of moderate scope and complexity
  • Identifies possible solutions to a variety of technical problems and takes actions to resolve
  • Applies judgment within defined parameters
  • Receives general guidance may receive more detailed instruction on new projects
  • Work reviewed for sound reasoning and accuracy

Responsibilities

  • Provides accounting guidance to business partners related to proposed transactions to ensure conformity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) as well as company policies and procedures.
  • Develop and manage project plans, milestones, deliverables, timelines, risks, and stakeholder communications.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to evaluate current reporting processes, identify gaps, and design future-state solutions as it relates to the adoption of accounting standards updates.
  • Conducts research regarding the impact to financial statements of potential changes to accounting rules proposed by accounting standards setters and advises management regarding the same.
  • Ensures all SEC reports and disclosures comply with applicable government regulations, professional standards, and organizational policies.
  • Prepares and reviews consolidated financial statements and all other required disclosures to maintain compliance with the SEC and GAAP.
  • Oversees restructuring and integration projects, including journal entry and account reconciliation review and enforcement of policy adherence.
  • Coordinates cross-functionally, including with Finance and Investor Relations, to update the MD&A (Management's Discussion & Analysis) sections of the Form 10-Q/10-K.
