Advanced Energy has an opening within the SEC reporting and technical accounting team. The SEC Reporting Analyst role is a critical role in the company’s external financial reporting and technical accounting matters. This position ensures compliance with US GAAP, SEC regulations, corporate policies and procedures, and common ethical practices. This is a detail-oriented and hands-on position that requires the individual to be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with effective communication. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills; demonstrated successful organizational and time management skills; problem solving abilities; and international business acumen. While this role will be focused on financial reporting, it will also be involved in other areas of accounting, such as month-end close, addressing technical accounting issues or implementation of new accounting pronouncements. The role has significant exposure to the executive leadership team, ability to manage and transform the reporting process and becoming a leader within the Accounting Department.

Requirements

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including Vlookups, Xlookups, and Pivot tables
  • Proficiency in other Microsoft applications including Word and PowerPoint.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, ability to analyze and provide reports and communications to higher level management about the specific areas of responsibility.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized; able to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to multi-task and complete assignments necessary to accurately present the company’s financial condition and results of operations.
  • 2-6 years of experience in accounting or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, SEC reporting, and SOX requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance

Nice To Haves

  • Audit experience with a public accounting firm or accounting/ financial reporting experience, including SOX and internal controls.
  • Experience with multinational companies with international subsidiaries that operate in foreign currencies.
  • External financial reporting and SEC regulations.
  • Working knowledge of financial reporting platforms such as Toppan Merrill Bridge, Workiva. Wdesk, or Donnelley ActiveDisclosure.
  • Systems experience (e.g., Costar lease accounting software tool, Blackline, SAP).
  • Experience preparing the statement of cash flows.
  • Experience with Lease accounting (ASC 842).
  • CPA certification

Responsibilities

  • Prepare 10-Q, 10-K, and 8-K filings including financial statements, footnote disclosures, and MD&A as well as earnings release materials.
  • Support preparation and tie-outs of other public filings, such as proxy statements.
  • Collaborate with FP&A, investor relations and senior leadership regarding financial reporting related deliverables ensuring consistency among the deliverables.
  • Maintain internal control over financial reporting for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and support the internal and external audit teams’ requests.
  • Assist with research and interpretation of US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements on accounting issues and new accounting guidance.
  • Research and prepare technical accounting memos and analysis as needed.
  • Participate in special projects and ad-hoc requests (purchase accounting, post-acquisitions integrations, systems implementations, internal finance reporting transformation).
