About The Position
The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) Region One is now hiring a Seasonal Transportation Technician I to support operations at our Huntsville Maintenance Station. This role involves operating heavy equipment and performing specialized roadway maintenance, including snow and ice removal, roadway repair, and emergency response. The position offers full-time hours or on-call hours and is a Time Limited, At Will position.
Requirements
- Must possess a current Class A Commercial Driver License (CDL) upon hire.
- Willingness to work nights, be on-call, and respond promptly during severe weather and winter storms.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Dependable, motivated team player who prioritizes safety and takes pride in public service.
Nice To Haves
- Previous UDOT, heavy roadway maintenance, or highway construction experience.
- Heavy equipment and CDL vehicle operation.
- Commercial snow removal and winter driving operations.
Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment and perform specialized roadway maintenance.
- Clear state roadways using snowplows, graders, blowers, and specialized heavy equipment.
- Repair traffic signs, fences, guardrails, and other critical roadway features.
- Safely operate, inspect, and maintain CDL-restricted vehicles, tools, and heavy equipment.
- Assist with urgent roadway issues and storm response as needed.
