About The Position

This role is for a Seasonal Tax Senior Manager, identified with #LI-CL1 and #LI-Remote. The position requires the individual to act as a Subject Matter Expert within their business unit, sharing knowledge and making recommendations on internal department procedures. A key aspect of the role involves recognizing business opportunities for clients and for CBIZ. The Senior Manager will assume significant client responsibility, serving as a trusted advisor by staying informed on industry trends, identifying client issues, and proactively proposing solutions. They will manage staff on engagement deliverables, including financial statements, tax returns, and work papers, and will be part of the final engagement review team to ensure quality control. The role also involves new client development in partnership with upper management, participating in client meetings, presentations, and proposal development, and meeting cross-serve goals. Financial responsibilities include billing and realization on assigned clients, developing engagement budgets, and explaining variances. For clients with Qualified Plan needs, understanding these requirements is essential. The Senior Manager will also supervise, train, and mentor staff, fostering a team environment and supporting management decisions to build a positive culture. Additional responsibilities may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 8 years experience in public accounting or related field
  • 5 years supervisory experience
  • Must have active CPA or equivalent certification
  • Ability to manage all aspects of client engagements
  • Ability to manage deadlines, work on multiple assignments and prioritize each assignment as necessary
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing throughout all levels of organization, both internally and externally
  • Proficient use of applicable technology
  • Must be able to travel based on business needs

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Accounting, Taxation or related field
  • Prior experience reviewing Forms 1040, 1041, 706, 709, 990 and complex pass-through entity returns.
  • Prior experience reviewing alternative investments including private equity and hedge fund K-1’s; including knowledge base of Section 1061 attributes and foreign reporting
  • Experience with family office structures and closely held businesses preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for new client development in partnership with upper management; participate in client meetings, presentation and proposal development and meet individual cross serve goals
  • Responsible for billing and realization on assigned clients; develop overall engagement budget, explain variances
  • Understand client's Qualified Plan needs (as applicable)
  • Supervise, train and mentor staff; listen and communicate effectively
  • Work to develop responsible, trained staff by conducting performance feedback and evaluations
  • Drive a team environment; demonstrate support of management decisions and builds a positive culture
