About The Position

The Dining Hall Host & Snack Shop Lead will provide excellent meal services for all guests and sustain a professional and encouraging atmosphere in and around the dining hall. In addition, this position will organize the details of the snack shop

Requirements

  • Be a High School Student or above
  • Position requires a background check to be completed, and all background check results will be reviewed.
  • Must have experience working with children. Must have experience in relevant camp activities.
  • Must complete Safe From Harm training within the first 30 days of employment.
  • Must be a Christian who demonstrates the principles of Christian living.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision.
  • Ability to manage time well in order to accomplish multiple tasks by a set schedule.
  • Able to relate God to campers in the natural setting of camp.
  • Ability to teach a concept or lead an activity for children or adults
  • Able to guide, direct, and supervise daily duties and responsibilities of other staff members, as assigned
  • Able to communicate well with other staff, campers and supervisors
  • Able to walk for extended periods of time and across uneven terrain.
  • Good speaking, hearing and vision ability, and excellent manual dexterity
  • Lifting materials up to 25 pounds and carry it for at least 50 feet.
  • Be physically fit enough to keep up with daily camp activities.

Responsibilities

  • Work in coordination with kitchen staff to oversee Dining Hall and Dish Room attendants to:
  • Maintain the dining room and dish room in a clean, orderly manner.
  • Ensure the highest standards of sanitation are observed by cleaning tables, counters, beverage centers and other areas as designated after every meal or food service.
  • Prepare tables and serving areas for each meal period.
  • Conduct head counts of camper for each meal per the USDA Summer Food Program guidelines.
  • Sweep, mop/spot mop the floor after each meal service and completely mop the dining room once daily.
  • Remove dirty dishes, cups and flatware to the dish room after every meal service.
  • Put away all service items after every meal or food service.
  • Maintain the salad bar clean, free of food and debris.
  • Assist in washing and sanitizing all dishes for each meal period when needed.
  • Assist with serving meals during all food service times.
  • Provide direction and supervision to Dining Hall and Dish Room attendants while on duty in the Dining Hall.
  • Coordinate the cleaning of restrooms in the Dining Hall & Centerwood, including assigning Dining Hall and Dish Room Attendants.
  • Work in coordination with the Camp Director to oversee the Snack Shop:
  • At registration, receive campers’ money and keep accurate records of amounts turned in.
  • Follow established procedures of how the snack shop will operate.
  • Prepare the snack shop to open on time according to the camp schedule, including the preparation of any food items that are needed.
  • Train staff members assigned in the proper procedures of the snack shop.
  • Supervise staff members assigned to work in the snack shop.
  • Ensure that campers’ accounts are being properly charged and maintained.
  • Ensure that procedures are followed for the purchase of items by staff members and volunteer leaders.
  • Inform the Camp Director when more supplies are need in the snack shop.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the Snack Shop.
  • Follow proper procedures for handling the cash box when cash is used in the snack shop.
  • Prior to the end of camp, work with someone on camp leadership to determine camper refunds and prepare funds to be returned to campers as they leave camp.
  • Assist in all camp programming as assigned.
  • Comply with camp policies.
  • Observe the spiritual emphasis of camp.
  • Keep living quarters clean and neat at all times.
  • Practice courtesy in sharing living space with other camp staff members.
  • Maintain a positive attitude.
  • Participate in staff meetings, evaluation sessions and devotion times.
  • Must carry radio while camp is in session on your person.
  • Other tasks as assigned by Leadership.
